AI Usage Disclosure

Effective Date: March 14, 2026

OpenXLearn uses artificial intelligence (“AI”) to enhance the learning experience. We believe in transparency about how AI is used in our platform. This disclosure explains which features are AI-powered, how your data interacts with AI systems, and the limitations you should be aware of.

1. AI-Powered Features

The following features on OpenXLearn utilize AI technology:

1.1 AI Tutoring

Our AI tutor provides on-demand explanations and step-by-step guidance when you encounter difficult questions. It can answer follow-up questions, clarify concepts, and adapt its explanations to your level of understanding. The AI tutor is powered by large language models (LLMs) from OpenAI.

1.2 Essay & Writing Evaluation

When you submit writing samples, our AI provides feedback on organization, development, grammar, mechanics, voice, creativity, and focus. Scores and feedback are generated algorithmically and are intended as practice guidance — they do not represent official exam scores.

1.3 Explanations & Hints

AI may be used to generate or enhance explanations for practice questions, including providing alternative approaches, identifying common mistakes, and suggesting study strategies.

1.4 Personalized Recommendations

AI analyzes your practice history and performance patterns to recommend topics, practice sets, and study strategies tailored to your needs.

2. How AI Processes Your Data

  • Inputs sent to AI: When you use AI-powered features, the relevant question content, your answer, and limited session context are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) for processing.
  • No training on your data: We use the OpenAI API in a configuration where your inputs are not used to train OpenAI's models. Your data is processed only to generate a response and is not retained by OpenAI for model improvement.
  • Data minimization: We send only the minimum data necessary for the AI to provide a useful response. We do not send your name, email, payment information, or other personally identifiable information to AI providers.
  • Storage: AI-generated responses may be cached on our servers to improve performance and reduce costs. Cached responses are subject to our standard Privacy Policy.

3. Limitations & Disclaimers

While we strive for accuracy and quality, it is important to understand the limitations of AI-generated content:

  • Not always accurate: AI may occasionally produce incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information. Always verify critical information independently.
  • Not a substitute for professional instruction: AI-generated content is intended to supplement, not replace, guidance from qualified educators and official test preparation resources.
  • No guaranteed outcomes: We do not guarantee specific test score improvements, admission outcomes, or educational results based on AI-generated recommendations.
  • Potential biases: AI models may reflect biases present in their training data. We actively work to identify and mitigate such biases but cannot guarantee their complete absence.
  • Context limitations: AI responses are based on the information provided in the current session and may not fully account for your broader learning context.

4. Automated Decision-Making Transparency

OpenXLearn uses AI to assist with educational recommendations, but we want to be clear about the nature of these decisions:

  • Scoring: Multiple-choice question scoring is deterministic (based on matching your answer to the correct answer). Essay scoring uses AI evaluation and should be treated as practice feedback, not an official assessment.
  • Difficulty recommendations: AI may recommend practice sets or topics based on your performance history. These recommendations are suggestions only — you always have the freedom to choose what you study.
  • No consequential automated decisions: We do not use AI to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you (such as academic placement, admission decisions, or access restrictions based on performance).

5. Children & AI Features

Our platform serves students who may be minors. We take additional care with AI features for younger users:

  • AI interactions are limited to educational content and do not engage in non-educational conversation.
  • We do not send personally identifiable information about minors to AI providers.
  • Parents and guardians can contact us to review or request deletion of their child's AI interaction data.
  • Our AI features comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). See our Privacy Policy for details.

6. Third-Party AI Providers

We currently use the following third-party AI provider:

  • OpenAI (GPT-series models) — Used for AI tutoring, essay evaluation, and explanation generation. OpenAI processes data in accordance with their API Data Usage Policy, which specifies that API inputs are not used to train their models.

If we change AI providers or add new ones, we will update this disclosure accordingly.

7. Your Rights

Regarding AI-processed data, you have the right to:

  • Opt out of AI features: You can use the practice and course features without engaging the AI tutor or AI essay evaluation.
  • Request data deletion: You may request deletion of your AI interaction history by contacting us.
  • Ask questions: If you have concerns about how AI is being used with your data, contact us at OpenXLearn@outlook.com.

8. Changes to This Disclosure

As AI technology evolves, we may update this disclosure. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or in-app notification.
